Historical Paphos

A short drive or bus ride from our villas is the Archaeological Park of Kato Pafos (Paphos) is one of the most important archaeological sites of Cyprus and has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list since 1980.

Nicocles, the last King of Palaipafos moved the city from the previous location to its present location near the harbour at the end of the 4th century BC. Between the 2nd century BC and 4th century AD, Paphoswas the capital city of Cyprus. The Park includes sites and monuments from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, while most remains date to the Roman period. The intricate mosaic floors of four Roman villas (the houses of Dionysos, Theseus, Aion and Orpheus) form the impressive epicentre of the finds, and depict various scenes from Greek Mythology. The complex also includes other important monuments, such as the Asklepieion, the Odeon, the Agora, the Saranta Kolones (Forty Columns) Castle, the Limeniotissa ruins of an Early Christian Basilica, and the Tombs of the Kings.

Golf

Our villas are situated near to the best golf courses in Cyprus including the Aphrodite Hills Club located between Paphos and Lemesos. This club is an award-winning development with a championship 18-hole golf course.  Overlooking the endless blue of the Mediterranean Sea, the striking feature of the par 71 course is the deep canyon that separates two plateaus and has been beautifully incorporated into its design. Dotted with olive and carob trees, the course at Aphrodite Hills offers the perfect mix of challenging pot bunkers, manicured fairways of lush Bermuda grass and generous tiered greens . One of the defining features of the 6,299-metre course is the 7th hole, which is one of the most spectacular par 3s in Europe. The hole plays steeply down across a canyon onto a large green, nestled in a grove of olive trees. The course  - which opened in 2002 - also boasts a double-ended 350 metres practice range, four target greens with bunkers, short game practice facilities and three academy holes. Three residential professional golf instructors are available for individual or group lessons at the three-hole academy course, and there is also a fully-equipped Pro Shop.

Akamas Peninsula

The Akamas National Park is only a short (15 miles) but spectacular drive away from Coral Bay. With 230 Km of Sandy Bays, valleys and hills. Discover the baths of Aphrodite, Avaka Gorge, Blue Lagoon, Lara beach and more. Beach, boat trips, nature trails or a good days walk encountering the many mountain goats are all here for the seeing and doing.

A visit to the Bats of Aphrodite offers the oppertunity to splash in the waters, according to myth, where she first met her Adonis! The waters are said to hold rejuvinating powers.

If you have a 4 x 4 vehicle - a trip to Lara Beach with golden sand and crystal clear mediterranean waters is definitely worth the time to see. This is a breeding ground for the endangered Green and Hawks's Bill turtles and they are very well looked after by the Cyprus Government.
